Membership renewal application forms with appropriate subscription fees for the year 2008-2009 were due on 31st May 2008. Failure to renew membership as above is automatically a termination of membership of the JSPC. Accordingly, in compliance with legislation, the Firearms Licensing Department will be notified that former members who have not renewed are no longer members of the JSPC. This may mean you may no longer have a reason to possess a Firearms Certificate and it may consequently be revoked. To Join the Club:- A fee of £25.00 is payable on acceptance as a probationary member. Probationary Membership. The annual fee for adult members is £75.00. The annual fee for junior members is £25.00. A family membership is also available. Application for membership can be made on the appropriate Application Form to the Club Secretary. An applicant for membership must be sponsored by a Full Club Member. No application for full or probationary membership will be granted unless the applicant has informed the club of whether they have ever had an application for a firearm certificate refused or had a certificate revoked. A period of probation of not less than three months shall apply to all new probationary members during which time the applicant shall receive a course of instruction in the safe handling and use of firearms. Until such a course of instruction, the probationary member must be supervised at all times by a full club member. At the discretion of the committee, the period of probation may be varied or waived in the case of applicants who are already members of another approved club or who hold a firearm certificate. The club does not run a day or temporary membership scheme. The club has up to 12 guest days a year. Guests must be members of a recognised organisation or individuals who are known personally to at least one full member of the club. Note:- Section 21 of the 1968 Act sets out restrictions on the possession of firearms by certain categories of persons convicted of crimes. In short, persons who are sentenced to a term of imprisonment of 3 years or more are never allowed to possess firearms, and persons who are sentenced to a term of imprisonment for 3 months but less than 3 years must not possess firearms until 5 years have passed since the date of release. You are required to sign a declaration that you do not fall into this category.
