Implementation Dates

The sale of airguns through registered firearms dealers only will become compulsory on 1 October 2007.

And as of 6 April 2007 you will need to produce your firearms certificate in order to buy metallic cartridge primers, although there will be no requirements to enter on the certificate.  Other types of primer will, however, be exempt from the requirement, thanks to lobbying from shooting organisations such as BASC.

These dates have now been confirmed following the announcement on 8 November 2006 that the proposals were to be made law.
